Thursday 5 and Friday 6, June 2009
The weather continues to be hot during the day but quite cool in the evenings.
On Thursday we went to the Monastery in the village of Cuacos de Yuste with Miss Pilar, Miss Kearns and all the monitors. This is very interesting and we learnt a lot about CarlosV. Then we went to the village square which has some very old buildings. We did some shopping and looked around the village. We went back to the albergue for lunch and then did lots of activities and games for the rest of the day. Mrs. Gasca and Mr. Cole left the albergue to go back to Madrid. Today we have been to the city of Caceres. The weather has not been so good but was probably better for walking around the historic centre of the city. We came back to the albergue for lunch and to continue with our activities. If you want to see some photos of the albergue please look at the web site: www.albergueturisticoellago.com
We are travelling back on Saturday and will arrive at the school in Soto de Viñuelas at approx. 15.30
Wednesday, 03-06-09:
We went to the Parque Nacional Monfragüe where we had an interesting video in the information centre which told us all about the history and geographical/natural features of the area.
Then we had a walk through the park alongside the Tietar River. We saw the meanders and where the two rivers that flow through the park meet. We were extremely lucky and saw a wild boar. At the end of our trek we came to the cliff face where telescopes were set up especially for us. We saw lots of vultures and other birds. It was fantastic.
We had lunch in the albergue and spent the rest of the day doing activities in the grounds We made photo frames which we painted and varnished. We showered before dinner and played some singing games before we went to bed.
Tuesday, 02-06-09:
We arrived safely and the weather is good.
Tomorrow we are going to the Monfragüe National Park and Mrs Gasca and Miss Kearns are arriving. |
