For the evening we welcomed among the VIP guests, Mrs. Yolette Azor-Charles, ambassador of Haiti in Spain, Sr. José Folgado, Mayor of Tres Cantos, José Miguel de Haro, president of the association ACOGER Y COMPARTIR, Dr. Ernesto Rousseau, president of the “Circulo Cultural Hispano-Haitiano” together with Mr and Mrs Fry, and Mr and Mrs Leech.
The evening started with a welcome cocktail under the porch. Everybody enjoyed the exotic punch and the typical Spanish tapas. The entertainment that followed in the Christopher Leech Auditorium was truly wonderful, consisting of almost 2 hours of the highest quality of music, magic and dance. Cliff the Magician, our talented compere, contributed greatly to the success of the show.
After the entertainment had finished, guests then made their way down to the dining room that had been entirely decorated to create an exquisite exotic atmosphere. A wonderful dinner with Haitian flavors prepared by David Lorenzo and his team, and was served by more than thirty 6th form students who acted most professionally to provide an excellent service to all the guests.
After dinner, the evening came to a close with an auction and raffle, with some amazing prizes eg. a Real Madrid signed shirt, handbags from Loewe and Carolina Herrera, BBVA Liga tickets, a Haitian painting, an invitation to the filming of TVE famous program “Aguila Roja” amongst many others!
We managed to raise an amazing 14,135 euro benefit that will go entirely to the ACOGER Y COMPARTIR association.
Thanks to the amazing generosity of everybody who either came along to the evening, bought a raffle ticket, or sent in a donation, 300 Haitian children will be able to attend the Fonfrède school next school year and will not only receive their education but also one daily meal at the school.
Kings College would like to say a huge “Thank you” to each single person who has been supporting this initiative in one way another!
“Holding Hands with Haiti” is an ongoing project with more events to follow at the Soto school, (especially at the May Fayre) and at La Moraleja and Chamartin schools.
