She is Ms Elaine Blaus, who will take over from Mr David Johnson as Head of King's College, Madrid, in September 2010. She has worked in education for over 20 years. Originally from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, she has experience of teaching in both Primary and Secondary schools. For the last 10 years she has been Head of King’s College, the British School of Alicante.
A skilled linguist, she has a degree in Russian and Management Studies from the University of Leeds. After graduating from the University of Leeds, she was awarded a PGCE at Bishop Grosseteste College, Lincoln, and started teaching in Inner London, where she was quickly promoted to become Deputy Head of a Primary School in South London.
In 1998 she moved, with her young family, to Alicante to work for the British Council. The British School of Alicante (BSA) was founded in 2000 by a co-operative of parents, who invited her to become the founding Head. The BSA joined King’s Group in 2002 and under her leadership the school the school has grown from 100 pupils to nearly 800 today, and has a fine reputation in Alicante for the academic success of its pupils.
She is married to Paul Youlten, and they have two teenage children who have both been educated at King's College, Alicante. She is an experienced School Inspector, and has evaluated Independent schools in the UK and Europe. |
