School Life at King's College, La Moraleja
The school is governed by the King's Group Board of Directors and the School Council.
There is an optional bus service for pupils to the city of Madrid and its outlying residential areas and all routes are supervised by a bus monitor.
Pupils follow the English National Curriculum and are taught by experienced, British qualified staff. At the age of fourteen (the end of National Curriculum Year 9), they transfer to King's College in Soto de Viñuelas to complete their final four years of study, including (I)GCSE, GCE AS and A Level examinations.
There are Induction English Classes for children over the age of 7 who need to improve their English. There are also Beginners' Spanish Classes for international children joining the school. All pupils learn Spanish and are taught by Spanish qualified staff.
There is an option to follow the Bachillerato from the age of 16 (Y12) in Soto de Viñuelas.
Quotation from the last ISI Inspection (March 2008): "At La Moraleja teachers create an atmosphere in classrooms that is very conducive to learning. As a result pupils want to learn and are very diligent. They are enthusiastic learners and have the confidence to think and learn for themselves."
Music and Drama form an important part of the extra-curricular programme and throughout the school year there are shows and concerts and also weekly choir and band practices. We encourage all pupils from an early age to explore their capabilities in the areas of music and the arts.
Sports play an important role at the school and pupils are encouraged to take part in tournaments and local competitive events, in addition to their normal PE classes. School football and basketball teams compete in the local Alcobendas Leagues and pupils also take part in inter-school championships in athletics and cross-country.
There is a programme of optional classes (some of which take place at Soto de Viñuelas) which includes horse riding, ballet, judo, Spanish dancing, swimming, tennis, tuition in various musical instruments, performing arts, chess, language clubs and craft workshops.
